The 50% off sale at “Express”

I got an email this morning that ALL sweater at Express are 50% off TODAY only.  So I thought I would do an impromptu blog post with my favorites.  The sale isn’t in store, only online.  I ran into the store this morning and did a try on session to actually see how they felt and fit.  I am OCD about itchy sweaters and only wear soft ones.  I fell in love with this bright pink one.  I love the idea of a bright, happy color for fall.  It’s been so dreary the past few days. I paired it with gray denim and my favorite over the knee boots.  These boots are my absolute favorite and I just ordered them in gray also.

I was hoping sweater weather was here to stay because last week was pretty cool, BUT it’s 63 degrees today.  The weather is so crazy here!! Enjoy shopping the sale!

The Perfect Outfit for Thanksgiving Dinner!

Our Thanksgiving family gathering is super casual. I know some people break out the fine China and dress up, but that isn’t us!  However, I do love to wear a fun, trendy outfit in fall hues.  This Bell Sleeve sweater has been a great basic in my wardrobe this fall and comes in several colors.  A cognac suede skirt just screams “fall” to me and it is actually very comfortable.  It’s no secret that I LOVE leopard print and these booties have been on repeat in my closet!

I’ve also put together some other great, comfortable options for your Thanksgiving gathering!  I just can’t get away from the orangish, brown tones because they seem so fitting for the occasion.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.   May we all take the time to reflect on our blessings and the ONE who gave them to us.  Enjoy!!

My picks from the “Loft” sale!

Everyone loves a good sale, am I right?  And the sale going on at “Loft” is most certainly a good one! EVERYTHING is 40% off. Yes that’s right site wide.  I love “Loft” for basic, classic pieces that can be worn year after year.  The quality is excellent and it isn’t cut for teenagers. Can I get an amen on that one? I want to share some of my favorite pieces included in the sale.  It only goes through the weekend though, so act fast!!

DSC_4405.JPG

DSC_4411.JPG

This cozy oversized sweater is seriously a dream.  It is so soft, comfortable, and everything that a sweater should be.  I paired it with faux leather leggings which are so versatile and comfortable. I love that they are higher waisted.  These over the knee boots  have been on repeat and they are so reasonably priced.  They are an almost identical dupe for a designer pair.

DSC_4420.JPG

DSC_4416.JPG

I keep telling myself, NO MORE CARDIGANS because I seriously have a million by now.  BUT, when I saw this gorgeous bell-sleeved one, I had to have it.  It seriously feels amazing! It will be on repeat for sure!  There are lot’s of other great top options as well, you can shop them in the post below!

I recently tried “Loft” denim and I absolutely love it! It fits amazing and is so comfortable.  It is all 40% off so the prices are amazing.  I found that it runs generous compared to my other jeans, so I recommend sizing down.  Here are a few of my favorites!

I hope you have an amazing weekend and you better act fast on these amazing prices!  A good deal never lasts forever!  I am looking forward to a weekend of NO PLANS!! This hardly ever happens, so I am hoping to catch up around the house!! What are your plans for the weekend?  As always, thanks for reading!!

Fall

5 Fall Trends that anyone can wear!

Fall is my favorite time of year!  I love the weather, anything pumpkin, and fall fashion is the best!  Sweaters, boots, cozy scarves are some of my go to pieces this time of year.  I want to share some of my favorite fall trends for right NOW.  My friends tell me all the time, “that’s cute on you, but I could never pull that off.” These trends I’m getting ready to share can work for anyone.  Take it and make it your own.  That’s why I love fashion so much.   You can create your own look to fit your personal style.  Be original, be unique, be YOU!

1) Velvet

DSC_3683.JPG

DSC_3696

Velvet is HUGE this fall/winter.  Velvet is really timeless.  You can keep it simple with a velvet top like this Free People one, or make a bolder statement with a velvet dress or jumpsuit. There are so many color options available and velvet is perfect for any upcoming holiday parties.  And the texture is so soft and feminine.   This top also comes in a gorgeous raspberry and is on sale for 33% off! You could also pair it with a suede skirt and OTK boots to dress it up! Here are a few of my other favorite velvet pieces.

2) The Sweater Dress

IMG_5747.jpg

IMG_5738

Sweater Dresses are huge this fall/winter.  I love this option because it is so easy and versatile.  I love throwing on a pair of OTK boots with a sweater dress.  You can also layer them or throw on a leather jacket.  There are so many cute ones right now with fun sleeve details.  I really love this gray Topshop one because there are tons of styling options and it isn’t itchy.  I’m really picky about the texture of my sweaters.  I highly recommend this one. It runs large so size down.  Here are more of my favorites.

3) Burgundy

DSC_3964

DSC_3803

DSC_3794.JPG

DSC_3767

Burgundy is hands down the hottest color for fall/winter. And it looks good on all hair colors and skin tones.   It is my favorite color to wear right now and I’m a little embarrassed about how much I’ve bought in this color! It is such a rich, chic color and I highly recommend adding something burgundy into your wardrobe!  I am loving this burgundy Tulle skirt for holiday parties.   This burgundy hi-lo top might just be my favorite top of the season.  The detail is amazing and it’s only $68! This is going to sell out fast, so grab it quick!  And you just can’t beat a warm, cozy cardigan in this gorgeous color.  Shop my burgundy favorites!

4) Leopard print

DSC_4042

DSC_4020.JPG

IMG_5259.jpg

I know not everyone is obsessed with leopard print like I am and that’s ok!  I love it because it serves as a neutral and looks good with everything.  If you are unsure about the print, take it in small doses.  A leopard clutch is the perfect accent for almost any outfit.  I also love a leopard scarf or wrap to add interest.  If you are really feeling the leopard print, you can take it a little further with a printed dress or even pants! Just make it work for you!

5) Embroidery

DSC_4073.JPG

DSC_3290.JPG

DSC_3642.JPG

Embroidery is such an intricate detail and it makes any piece of clothing or accessory look rich and expensive (even if it’s not).  An embroidered leather jacket is a statement piece that works with jeans or over a dress.  You can also keep it subtle with an accessory.  In any dose, this is a trend that will instantly make your outfit chic and on trend for fall.

I hope this post will give you some inspiration on how to create interest in your fall wardrobe and make these trends your own.  Don’t be afraid to try something new, but also be true to your own personal style! What are your favorite fall trends?

Thanks so much for reading and Happy Fall!

Fall

Sweater weather, My favorite cardigans and how to style them!

Cardigans are my go to pieces for fall! I don’t really wear coats unless it’s freezing and that is hardly ever the case here in the South.  So throwing on a cardigan and scarf is my fall uniform. There are SO many good ones right now too.  I could just keep buying and buying them… shopping probs.  I want to share some of my favorites that are currently online and the many ways you can style them.

DSC_4035.JPG

DSC_4042.JPG

DSC_4038.JPG

I love wearing a cardigan over a printed dress and pairing it with boots.  This is such a simple, but easy way to look chic. I am especially loving this hunter green cardigan and my philosophy is leopard print always works.  A leopard print dress is such a versatile piece for fall!  These Steve Madden over the knee boots have been on constant repeat and are under $100!

DSC_3767.JPG

DSC_3771.JPG

I also love styling my cardigans with a Basic tee (this one is only $19) and a fabulous pair of faux leather leggings.  The texture adds interest and they are SO comfortable!  Throw on a printed scarf and you are set!  Gray slouch booties have been a staple in my fall wardrobe.  They literally work with everything!

IMG_5549.jpg

And of course you just can’t beat a cardigan with a great pair of denim.  This olive green cardigan is the best because it is super soft and lightweight.  Distressed denim is totally on trend and this pair is my current fave. They are slightly higher rise and are on sale for buy a pair, get a pair for $19.90.    A white tank is a layering must and this one is my favorite!  It is still pretty warm  out, so I paired with nude sandals.  This is a great everyday momiform!

There are so many great cardigan options so I want to share some of my other favorites!

IMG_5537.jpg

Happy Fall!  I hope this will give you some fall wardrobe inspiration!  Cardigans are your best friend this time of year! What is your favorite way to wear one?  Thanks so much for reading!

The perfect skirt to wear for holiday and everyday!

DSC_3979.JPG

DSC_3964.JPG

DSC_3961.JPG

DSC_3975.JPG

I know it’s only October, but I am already brainstorming about holiday looks.  Once Halloween is over it seems like I turn around and it’s Christmas.  These days my life isn’t very “fancy”, so when I buy a dressy piece I like to make it work for everyday too.  When I found this gorgeous Tulle Skirt in my VERY favorite color, I knew this was a must! It is very inexpensive and I saw potential to wear it dressy and casual.  Wine is one of the hottest colors for fall and it seems to look good on everyone.  I paired it with a simple black bodysuit that is only $14.99!  I am going to wear this a TON, so I’m thinking about getting multiples.  I size up in bodysuits because if they are too short, it is SO uncomfortable.  I wanted to keep my accessories simple, so I went with a faux leather choker that is currently on sale for $11 and black tassel earrings which I have been wearing with EVERYTHING!  Since all of my other accessories were black, I decided to break it up with a very neutral gray suede sandal.  These are on sale for 40% off and the detail on the back is amazing!  I also wear these with jeans.  And lastly, I went with a leopard clutch that I use all the time.  Leopard somehow seems to work with everything.  Enter code EMILY15 at checkout and receive 15% off this amazing clutch and shipping is free! Every girl needs some animal print in her life!

DSC_3995.JPG

To make this more of an everyday look, I added a distressed denim jacket.  This one is a bit oversized so I suggest sizing down.  Then I threw on my favorite platform sneakers and now I have a great outfit for running errands or lunch with friends.  Investing in pieces that are versatile will help you get more mileage out of your wardrobe and you won’t get tired of your clothes as quickly!

In the “Shop the Post” below I am linking my exact pieces plus some of my other favorite tulle skirts. Believe me, there are SO many good ones!  And how cute would it be to wear mommy and me skirts with your little one?  Mine are getting too old and cool to match their mom these day, but if they were younger, I totally would!

Thanks so much for reading.  I hope this will give you some inspiration on how to take your dressier pieces and make them work everyday.  Let me know what you think and please follow along if you haven’t subscribed already!

My Workout Routine and Favorite Active wear!

DSC_3890.JPG

DSC_3877.JPG

DSC_3894

DSC_3898.JPG

DSC_3870.JPG

My workout routine is such an important part of my life! It feels right and genuine to write a blog post about it. There are so many benefits to regular exercise.   After I had my third child I struggled with anxiety.  Working out has helped me so much in this area. It also helps me in the colder months because I get the “winter blues” for sure.  It is 30 minutes to an hour of “me” time where I can clear my head and reset myself.  That makes me a better mom.  I joke and say that I’m not nice if I don’t work out.  That might be a stretch, but I’m certainly happier when I do!

I spend a lot of time in active wear.  I love wearing fun colors and prints to keep it fresh and interesting.  I especially love the mesh detail on this top and the beautiful teal color.  And the price tag is even better!

Disclaimer: I am NOT a fitness expert by any means.  I am simply sharing my personal workout regimen.  This is what works for ME.  Consult your physician before you start a new exercise program.

I work out four times a week.  I do an upper and lower body workout with a personal trainer and go to group boot camp the other two days.  I don’t do cardio because honestly it bores me to tears.  I do short bursts of cardio in my workouts such as a minute of mountain climbers, burpees, short runs, etc.

Here are examples of my personal training sessions.  I love that my trainer mixes up my workouts and keeps it interesting.  I usually do 3 sets of 15 of each exercise and 1 minute if it’s a timed exercise.

As far as eating goes, my philosophy is simple: I try not to overeat and everything in moderation.  I don’t eliminate entire food groups and I try to eat small portions throughout the day.  Again, I am not an expert in this department either, but this is what has worked for me over the years.

Thanks so much for letting me share one of my passions with you! If you are bored or struggling with your workouts, I hope this might give you some inspiration and fresh ideas! Exercise is always more fun with friends too. Grab a buddy and hit the gym!

Trends from the NYFW runway and how REAL people can wear them!

I know you are probably sick of hearing me talk about NYFW and this will be my last post about it…. until I go again in February!  As I watched the amazing runway shows, I tried to relate the trends to REAL life.  How could I wear this in my normal, everyday life? How could other moms wear them?  Here are my top 3 trends and how to wear them!

IMG_5050

Statement Sleeves-  This is no surprise! We’ve been seeing lot’s of exaggerated sleeves and it looks like this trend will continue.  Pair a bell or ruffle sleeve with your favorite denim and you are set!  I also love pairing a ruffle sleeve with a suede or faux leather skirt for a night out!  This is a trend that anyone can wear!

statement sleeve

metallic.PNG

Metallics- In the past, metallic colors have been considered “dressy” or more for evening.  Not anymore, shine is perfectly acceptable for daytime now.  Just keep the rest of your pieces low-key. I love wearing a metallic bomber jacket with distressed denim for casual daytime look!

metallic graph.jpg

cutouts.PNG

Cutouts-This fun little detail can take a plain t-shirt or sweatshirt and give it some interest.  On the runway the cutout situation was a bit more extreme, but this is a trend that can translate to the everyday “mom on the go” wardrobe!

I hope you will give one of these trends a try!  As always, thanks for reading and enter your email address to follow along if you haven’t already!  What is your favorite trend for fall?

New York Fashion week recap!

IMG_4552

I’ve only been blogging since February, so I still consider myself a “baby” at fashion blogging.  However, attending New York Fashion Week has been on my bucket list since I started.  I’ve heard so much about it, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about first hand.  I had no idea what to expect on any level and I went by MYSELF which totally isn’t like me.  Luckily, I met up with some super sweet ladies, one in particular.  Of course, what to WEAR was the biggest thing on my mind.  I knew there would be some off the wall craziness. I wanted to stay true to my own personal style which I call “mommy glam-chic” which I totally just made up. But, I really do think that describes it in a nut shell.  I used to dress up for the airports (I have no idea why) but it was ALL about comfort this time around.  The more kids I have, the more I think about comfort!  These jeans and sneakers make the perfect travel attire!  Shop them here!

On Day 1 of NYFW I wanted to wear something with color! I wanted to make a statement in a classy, chic sort of way.  And I had 3 shows to attend and a blogger party, so I needed to be semi-comfortable.  These shoes were surprisingly comfortable until the end of the day.  And for some reason, I think leopard goes with everything!  And the fit of this dress is amazing.  It runs on the small side.  I am typically a size 2/4 and I ordered a 4 and it fit like a glove! This dress is fabulous for the price!!

IMG_4594

The Style Collective blogger party was that same evening.  The attire was “cocktail” which can be broad.  I opted for this white romper with a blazer over it! I am a major fan of rompers.  They are a fun, trendy alternative to a dress.  And how cute is this red wall we found?? There are so many great places to take pictures in NY!

IMG_4620

On day 2 of fashion week,  denim was calling my name.  I hardly saw anyone wearing jeans, but I just wanted to!  I paired dark skinny denim with this AMAZING statement ruffle top.  The details on this top seemed very high fashion or “couture” to me, but minus the high end price tag.  I also paired this top with leather pants to dress them up!  I think this top is my absolute favorite right now and I love that gingham is carrying over into fall!

IMG_4753

Day 3 of fashion week was a half day for me.  I had to head to the airport around noon.  My friend Amanda and I rode all the way across town and stood in line for over an hour.  When we approached the doors, they closed and the usher said “we’re sorry, we’ve reached capacity.”  That was a bummer especially since we supposedly had confirmed seating.  Since we went to the trouble to get dressed up, we just took pictures!  FYI, taking pics in NYC without a photobomb of some sort is next to impossible!

I love this outfit because it is totally timeless and chic.  You really just can’t go wrong with black and white and the floral gives it a color pop.

IMG_4633.JPG

One of the highlights of my trip was getting a photo at the “like to know it” wall.  If you aren’t familiar with “like to know it” it is the app that rewardstyle bloggers like myself use to link our products on Instagram.  You simply download the app and take a screenshot of any IG picture you want to shop.  All of the product info will instantly be in your app.  I know…genius, right? This wall was located in the lower East side and was absolutely adorable!  It was such a fun memory!

IMG_4908.JPG

I got to meet my IG friend Amanda in person!  She and I had messaged each other, but it was amazing to meet her in person.  She is just the sweetest.  Follow her on IG as @5feetoffashion and her blog is 5feetoffashion.com.

Overall, my first NYFW was an amazing experience!  I learned a lot and will do some things differently next time!  My next post will be about the runway looks.  So stay tuned!! As always, thanks for reading and please follow my blog if you haven’t already!!!

New York Fashion Week!

FullSizeRender

Six months ago my husband sensed that I needed an outlet and suggested I start a fashion/lifestyle blog.  I immediately told him “no”! I mean come on, there are a million bloggers out there and what could I possibly bring to the table?  After thinking about it, I realized I had nothing to lose and that it was simply going to be for fun.  If I’m successful then great, but if not I’ll still have a hobby!  Fast forward six months and it’s been a far greater experience than I could have imagined.  I certainly haven’t “arrived” and I’m not paying the mortgage, but I’m having a blast, have met so many amazing women, AND I am headed to NYFW tomorrow!!! I can’t wait to share this amazing experience with you all.  I’ll be going live at the fashion shows and sharing the latest trends.  So please follow along on the amazing adventure! Thanks so much for your support!

Packing is always the toughest part.  Here are my must haves for this fashion adventure!

FullSizeRender (1).jpg

comfy yet on trend sneakers– we all know going to NYC involves TONS of walking!!  So I wanted some shoes that would be functional yet stylish at the same time!

Black tassel earrings– I’m trying not to overpack, so I’m taking accessories that will work with multiple things.  These earrings look good with everything!

budget friendly cocktail dress– I have a cocktail event and wanted a dress with drama and high fashion details.  Overall my life is NOT dressy and I realize I probably won’t wear it again.  So I wanted a dress that appeared expensive, but isn’t!  And this one is FAB!!!

water bottle– I have been warned that NYFW is fast paced! So staying hydrated is super important.  And I like my water cold!!!

Leather tote–  This is the perfect bag to double as a carry on and to use for favors from the runway shows!!

Trendy activewear– Once again it is NYFW so everything needs to be stylish!  I wanted to take some comfy pants in case there is anytime for lounging in the hotel room,  a stroll in Central park, or a sweat session in the hotel fitness center!

neutral clutch–  As I said, I’m trying to use accessories that will work with multiple looks! This neutral clutch will work with all of my dressy looks and I love the chain detail!

Tarte concealer– I swear by this stuff!!  No matter how little sleep I get, this concealer brightens my under eye area and covers my blemishes so well!!! I won’t go anywhere without this!!

distressed denim jacket–  this versatile jacket will look great over almost anything!  And the distressing is right on trend! I’ll be throwing this on numerous times throughout the trip!

Clean Freak Dry Shampoo–  this stuff is amazing!! It gives my hair volume on the days I don’t wash my hair and makes it smell so good! This is a major time saver while you are travelling!

The perfect date night outfit!

Unfortunately, date night doesn’t happen often enough at our house!  When it does, I like to dress up and wear something I wouldn’t wear if we were out with the kiddos.  It makes it a little more special!

I love pink and I love lace, so when I saw this amazing Pink lace romper, I knew I had to have it! And the fit is super flattering.  Thank goodness it isn’t super short because that just doesn’t work for this mama!  My plan is to throw on a denim or fitted leather jacket and take it into early fall.  Pink is actually a big color for fall this year.  It’s usually more of a Spring/summer color, but blush is everywhere and I’m not mad about it! 🙂  I can wear pink ALL year long and not complain a bit!

I chose these Nude sandals by Steve Madden because they literally work with everything.  I have worn mine so much this summer, I need to order another pair.  They truly elongate the leg and are a great closet staple!   This leopard clutch has also been on repeat! I consider leopard a neutral!  Be sure and use code EMILY15 at checkout for 15% off your entire purchase!

When I wear a light pink color like this, I feel like my skin needs some color, or I am totally washed out in it.  I found the BEST sunless tanner ever!  Today at 2 PM, I was my normal color, (white as a ghost, lol)  but I applied St. Tropez tanning foam and by 6:00 I had a nice, bronze glow! I highly recommend this product.

Although this pink romper is my current fave, there are SO many cute ones right now!! Here are my top picks!

So go ahead and grab a cute romper for your next date night! You will look super chic and your hubby will totally appreciate it!!  How often do you have a “date night” and what it your favorite thing to wear for a night out with your man?

As always, thanks for reading!!

The Denim Guide

Am I the only one that gets overwhelmed with all of the denim options out there?  There are so many cuts, styles, rises. etc.  It can be a lot to process.  And with fall just around the corner, it’s important to get your denim wardrobe ready to go!  I’m going to try and make your life a little easier by going over the different types of denim, how to style them, and my favorite picks of each!

The Skinny Jean- I wear skinny jeans the most! They make such a great silhouette with almost anything.  In the fall, I love wearing them with kimonos and long jackets.  If you have a full top with volume or a long one, skinny jeans will be your best bet!  I recommend getting some with stretch and a slightly higher rise to make everything look “nice and smooth”.  It’s all about proportions, so fitted on the bottom works best with flowy on the top!  I love that you can wear any type of shoe with skinny jeans.  They are perfect with flats, sneakers, boots, booties, really anything!

I am crazy about this Floral print Kimono.  I just screams fall to me and these high rise skinny jeans are my favorite right now.  They are so comfortable and flattering.

DSC_3437.JPG

DSC_3451.JPG

The Flare Jean- This is a totally different look!  I do love a good flare jean, but it’s a completely different silhouette.    Unless you are super tall, you pretty much have to wear a wedge or heel with a flare or the proportions are a little off! Flare jeans look best with shorter tops and jackets. I also love a good button up with a flare. It’s a super chic look.  Flare really elongates the leg and that is always a plus!

DSC_3475.JPG

DSC_0967 (2).JPG

The Boyfriend/girlfriend jean- This is a more relaxed fit.  It is loose through the butt and thigh.  I love to contrast the more masculine cut with a girly top like this pink lace blouse.  I usually tuck it in or wear a belt just to give it some shape.   If you wear a loose top with the relaxed cut jean it can look boxy.  If I wear a t shirt with my boyfriend jeans, I usually tie it in a knot on the side, so I have a definite waistline.  I also love them cuffed with a sneaker. There are lot’s of options.  You can wear them totally casual or dress them up!
