Nothing feels more summery and fresh for the beach than a great white dress. And they look so amazing for beach pictures.  I fell in love with the detail on this great LWD and knew it was a must for my trip to Seaside.  I especially love the sleeves and lace detail. And the back of it is probably my favorite part!

Beauty

Beauty Must haves for the beach!

beauty collage

We are beach bound! Hallelujah!  We don’t get to travel much due to my husband’s work schedule, but our annual beach trip has become our holy grail!  Sun, beach, and waves are super fun, but can be hard on your hair and skin.  I thought I would share the products that are going in my beauty bag (in addition to the standards)

My number one beauty rule is :KEEP YOUR FACE OUT OF THE SUN!!! There is never any reason to tan your face with all of the bronzer and self tanner options.  Skip the sun spots and wrinkles and go the fake tan route.  To shield my face from the sun I wear huge hats and sunglasses. The bigger the better.  Versona has lot’s of great options that are inexpensive and on trend.

My favorite sunscreen right now is the Rodan and Fields sunscreen. It smells so good and isn’t greasy at all.  My face is very sensitive so I have to use a sunscreen specifically for the face.  I use Cetaphil daily moisturizing sunscreen. It is ultra gentle and fragrance free.  The skin around my eye area seems to dry out easily especially when I’m travelling, so I use Rodan and Fields Multifunction eye cream to keep this delicate area hydrated.  And it never fails, my face always breaks out at the beach.  I guess it’s all the humidity and sweat-gross!  In the evening I like to use a mask to unclog my pores and make my face feel clean and fresh.  I use the Mask of Zen and it makes my face so clean and refreshed!

Don’t forget to protect your lips too! Sun Bum keeps my lips hydrated and protects them with an spf 30.  I also wear this under my lipstick if I want protection and color.  After being in the sun all day, it’s important to moisturize your whole body especially if you get burned.  The Rodan and Fields Body Moisturizer is my current pick.  And no, I don’t sell R and F, I just really like some of their products!

I am VERY fair skinned! And let’s face it, pasty legs just aren’t pretty.  I get a spray tan before I leave, but after 5 days it usually starts to fade and get a little spotty.  And we are there for 7 days.   I use Sally Hansen Airbrush legs to even things out and make the color last the duration of the trip.

Now on to the hair.  The sun, chlorine, and salt water can really dry it out.  Hats not only protect your skin, but your hair as well!  In addition to shampoo and conditioner, I am taking the Carol’s Daughter Monoi hair mask to keep my hair hydrated and to help with detangling.  This product is amazing!  My hair is so much stronger when I use this regularly.  With all the heat and humidity my hair gets flat and oily around the temple area.  Clean Freak dry shampoo gives my hair volume and absorbs the oil in between washes.

Oh and this adorable little cosmetic bag with pom poms is from Target!  Go and get your self one 🙂

I hope you will give some of these products a try on your next beach trip!  What are your go to products for the beach?

Thanks for reading and I’m off to finish packing because I’m a MAJOR overpacker!!

Easy, comfortable dresses are my summer staple.  They are cool and I’m dressed in a total of five seconds, which is helpful with 3 little ones.  I also love that you can wear them casual with sandals or dress them up with some fun jewelry and wedges. Versatility is key in my life right now!  And I absolutely LOVE that this fun dress has pockets!  And who doesn’t love stripes? This is the perfect dress to add to your wardrobe. Lemons and summertime just go together!  As a child, I remember my mom bringing us lemonade while we were playing outside.  I can’t even count how many lemonade stands we had over the years.  Maybe that’s why lemon print just makes me happy and puts me in the mood for summer.  And bright, cheerful yellow is the perfect color for this time of year.  When I saw this dress, I knew it was a must. It’s perfect for the beach, picnic, or any summer activity.  And well… it just makes me happy.   So grab a glass of lemonade, a good book, and happy summertime!

Styling the Slip dress

DSC_2331 (2)

I love having basic pieces in my wardrobe that I can style in multiple ways!  And if I can make it work year round that’s even better.  A slip dress is one of those wardrobe staples that you can wear again and again.  I am loving this Cami slip dress and it’s only $45!  The neutral color makes it so versatile.  I plan on wearing it in the fall with a leather jacket and booties and also as a casual sundress with sandals or wedges As you build your wardrobe, it’s important to get pieces that you can style differently.  You get more bang for your buck that way!  And you don’t get tired of your clothes as easily if you mix it up.

You can also wear this as a skirt with a screen print tee over it for a casual look. Pair it with your favorite sneakers and you are set!

What is your favorite go to piece that you wear over and over?

Thanks for reading!!! I would love to hear from you!

“What to wear to a Summer wedding”

DSC_2156

Wedding season is upon us!  Most weddings take place in June and July so it’s time to start getting your wedding attire figured out.  In the past, I’ve bought dresses to wear to weddings and then ended up only wearing it once or twice.  So, I’ve learned not to spend a fortune.  I’ve found some great options all under $100. The Lace top and skirt set I am wearing is under $75 and totally chic for a wedding!  It runs small so size up!  Lace is timeless and always a great idea for a wedding. It works for daytime and evening, so you can’t go wrong!  When shopping for that perfect dress here are some things to keep in mind:

-Classic is always in style! Go for pastels, lace, and floral.

-The age old rule: Don’t wear white to a wedding, cream, ivory, or any pale color that might resemble white

-Don’t show too much skin.  It’s not our day, so avoid dressing in a way that draws attention to yourself .  Nothing super short, tight, and SOME cleavage is allowed, but keep it tasteful.

-I also avoid wearing black to weddings.  It’s supposed to a joyful day!

-Experiment with current trends.  An off the shoulder, cold shoulder, or even some (tasteful) cut-outs are a fun trend to incorporate into your wedding attire.

-If there is going to be lot’s of standing or dancing at the reception, make sure your shoes are at least moderately comfortable.  If you MUST wear your new 4 inch stilettos, bring a change of shoes with you!

Here are a few of my wedding favorites! They are all reasonably priced! Check them out!

I hope this makes your quest for the perfect wedding dress/outfit a little easier!  How many weddings are on your calendar this year?  This is going to be a down year for us I think, which I’m ok with 🙂  Please leave questions or comments! I would LOVE to hear from you!

“Casual Vibes”

DSC_2261

After a wonderful and busy Mother’s Day Weekend, it was a casual Monday for us! It was back to routine with my girls and chasing this little guy around.  I can’t believe another school year is coming to an end.  I have an almost fourth grader and almost first grader.  How is that possible?  With the end of the school year comes recitals, programs, awards assemblies, parties, etc.  To be honest, I’m having a hard time keeping up!  I feel blessed  to have such a full life and let’s just pray I show up everywhere I’m supposed to be over the next couple of weeks! Anyone else have a mom brain and just can’t remember things like you could pre-kids? Please tell me I’m not the only one lol!

I have literally found the best Spring sweater EVER!!! The Free People Halo Sweater is amazing!!! It is loosely woven and lightweight so it’s perfect for warm weather and it is SO comfortable! I originally ordered in it salmon, but loved it so much I ordered in white and slate too! Did I mention it’s 65% off?  You better grab one while you can! It runs large so size down. I am wearing the XS and it is still pretty roomy.  And these distressed calypso jeans from Articles of Society are the softest jeans I own!  I am totally loving the mule trend and these bow espadrilles are so comfortable and look fabulous with everything!

I love faith based tees for my little guy!  How cute is this “Give me grace and coffee tee” ?

Because we ALL need Grace and Coffee!! And I just can’t seem to get enough of either these days!! Happy Monday!  I hope your week is off to a great start!

“Mother’s Day Love”

DSC_2211

Happy Mother’s Day!  As I get older, this day holds more meaning and well… I get a little sappy.  I have the best mother a girl could have. We have always been best friends and that only gets stronger as I get older!  I have been told all my life that I look just like my mom.  And as you can see, that is a major compliment.  I can only hope and pray that I age as well as she does!  We have similar interests. We are both passionate about music and have been since we were very young.   We go to the same dentist and every time I go, he tells me that I have the exact same mouth and teeth as my mom! 🙂 Although I think her teeth are prettier!  Now that I’m a mom myself, I appreciate her so much more because I know what a tough job it is! I’m so thankful for the wonderful Mom God gave me! She is the best! Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! And thank you for all you’ve done for us!

I am also so thankful to BE a mom!  To think that three little people call me mom and depend on me is really unbelievable and at times overwhelming.  Being a mom is truly the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, but by FAR the most rewarding!  These babies are my greatest blessing and I think God for them every single day!

My busy boy was supposed to be in the picture with me and the girls, but he kept running out of the picture…. no surprise there! The only shot I could get was of me trying to restrain him so we could get a picture!  And this really is the perfect representation of what life is like with this little guy!

Rock and roll tee

Motherhood keeps me on my toes and seriously keeps me busy every minute of the day!  I’m not perfect, I make mistakes CONSTANTLY!! I am guilty of so many mom fails, but my kiddos know I love them and would do anything for them! Moms, we are ALL in this together and we need to encourage each other through these challenging times!

Here are some things I’ve learned along the way as a mom:

1.  I always have an outlet!! Right now it is going to the gym and blogging.  It’s so important to have something you enjoy and can do just for you!

2.  Spend one on one time with my spouse.  This is tough, but we shoot for date night at least once a month!  This keeps us closer which helps us parent better as a team and strengthens our relationship!

3.  I’ve learned to let people help me!  I used to want to do it all.  But now, if a good friend offers to take my kids to the park for the afternoon, I let them!  I am not afraid to ASK for help when I need it!

4.  Daily devotions.  I try to read a devotion daily, preferable early, to get my mind right.  I’ve tried doing deep studies, but I always get behind.  At this phase of life I need something short, sweet, and to the point! I am currently reading “The First 5” devotionals on my phone

5.  Girl time.  It’s so important to spend time with other ladies!  I know we are all busy, but this is crucial!

6. I’ve become a “Big Picture Person”.  I used to be a very detail oriented person.  With 3 little ones,  I just can’t sweat the small stuff anymore.  Who cares if someone spills or gets crumbs on the floor?

7.  Be in the moment! I’m not so good at this one, but I’m trying.  Let’s enjoy every minute with our little people because it flies by!!!  Don’t worry about tomorrow, just enjoy and live for today!

Thanks for reading and Happy Mother’s Day!!  Please leave comments or questions about what helps you in this journey! We are all in this together!

“Date Night Look”

DSC_2165

red top 5

Date night is hard to come by around our house right now. Life is so busy and full which is a blessing. Finding one on one time with my husband is challenging, but last night we went to one of our favorite restaurants and had a wonderful time just the two of us.  It was a little chilly yesterday, so this top was perfect. I absolutely adore this Red cold shoulder top (this one is slightly different, mine is sold out) and it is the perfect pop against these white distressed skinny jeans.   And I am in LOVE with these neutral studded sandals.  They are so versatile and the stud detail gives your outfit a little edge which I love.  And they are SO comfortable!  Throw on some tassel earrings and you are set!

Enter code “mothersday” for 20% off this gorgeous top and enter code EMILY15 for 15% off this fabulous and comfy white denim.

What is your favorite thing to do for date night? I would love to hear from you and get some new, fun ideas!  Our goal is to have date night once a month! Let’s see if we can stick to it and I challenge you to do the same.  Quality time is so important in a marriage and I know we need it especially since life seems a little chaotic (yet wonderful) right now!

Happy Date night!!!!

Thank goodness it’s almost summer! Because that means it’s time for beach and resort vacations.  I’m not sure about you, but I desperately need one about now! I love pairing the Marc Fisher espadrille with my summer dresses! They literally go with everything.  They are an investment, but they are very comfortable and a wardrobe staple.

When you are shopping for your beach summer dresses here are some great trends to shop:

1) embroidery

2) florals

3) off the shoulder

4) tassels and fringe

5) bright, bold colors

6) Ruffles, the bigger the better

I also love this Chambray off the shoulder dress from Vici dolls for $58. Chambray is timeless and perfect for the beach!  I also love a good maxi dress when we go out for a nice dinner. “Gingham and bows”

DSC_1999.JPG

I have always loved bows! And now that I’m too old to wear them in my hair, I guess I’ll just have to wear them somewhere else:)  When I stumbled upon this adorable Tie back peplum top  for UNDER $20. I knew it was a must! And for the low price, the quality is pretty good.  Gingham is huge for Spring, so add at least one gingham piece to your closet! This top comes in navy and red also! I am a huge fan of classic black and white though.

“Happy Day in May”

DSC_1952.JPG

I’m so glad to be rejoining the blogging world after taking a month off to focus on family. As many of you know, my oldest baby girl became very ill and it has taken a while to get our family “back to normal” whatever that is-ha!

Today was such a beautiful, Spring day and it was the perfect day to wear gorgeous floral prints and the colors that go with this season.   My girls are wearing maxi dresses from the new Matilda Jane Collection. I seriously can’t get over how amazing the prints and details are.  These dresses will make the best beach pictures for our trip in June!

DSC_1966

Lucy is wearing the Tell me more maxi and the Pretty Perennial Headband.  I just adore these color combinations!

DSC_1969.JPG

Lylah is wearing the Heart Song Maxi and the ruffle detail on the back is stunning!

DSC_1976.JPG

I just LOVE cobalt blue and I always have! This fabulous OTS top is from vici collection, but sold out rather quickly so I am linking a similar one Royal blue OTS top.  And my White distressed skinny jeans are only $39!!! Yes you read that correctly and they are so comfy and fit well!  Enter my code EMILY15 at checkout and get 15 percent off your purchase AND FREE shipping!  I’m telling you these are a steal.. They come in odd number sizes, so size up.  I am typically a size 2/4 and I ordered the size 5 for reference.

DSC_1962.JPG

I’m so thrilled to be to blogging again as it such a fun outlet for me!  But more than that, I am beyond grateful that everyone in my family is healthy again!  We are so blessed and everyday that we are living, breathing, and able to be with our loved ones is TRULY a gift.

Thanks so much for reading and happy Spring!!  What are your favorite Spring time family activities?
