Wow the drugstore/discount beauty world has exploded the past year or so.     I can’t believe all of the options that are available now.  And you can even find “cleaner” products that are paraben and sulfate free with a low price tag.  Back in the day, you had to spend more to get quality products, but that isn’t the case anymore!  I’m rounding up some of my favorite beauty products that are $10 and under and I hope you will give some of these amazing finds a try!

I know lot’s of people are against New Years Resolutions, but I can’t help setting some fitness goals for myself each year.  I have ONE body and one shot at being healthy.  My health decisions affect every area of my life.  If I’m not exercising and eating well, then I feel it in everything.  I’ve set my simple and certainly attainable goals for myself this year.

1. Drink More water-  I am so bad about drinking enough water and I feel so draggy when I don’t stay hydrated enough
2. Increase my workouts- I currently work out 3-4 times a week, but I’m not getting any younger so I am hoping to increase that to 4-5 times a week.
3. Get more sleep- I have turned into a major night owl, like staying up past midnight, then waking up at 6:30.  That is not enough rest for me and I experience a lot of fatigue
4. More protein!!! Since I am increasing my workouts, I need to up my protein intake especially if I want to build more muscle.  I was told to take my body weight, then divide it by two, and that’s how many grams of protein I should eat daily.
5. Meal prep-  I need to be better about making healthy meals ahead of time, so I’m not tempted to grab something junky when I get hungry!

Let’s face it, if you are trying to start a regular gym routine in the new year, it helps to invest in some cute, comfortable active wear!  It’s easier to get your rear in gear when you know you have a new adorable pair of leggings waiting on you! Nothing says Holiday glam more than some sparkle!! I’ll take any excuse to wear sequins, what about you?  I fell in love with the style and fit of this Sequin sheath dress from Express!  It is currently on sale for $70 which is an amazing price for a special occasion dress.  It runs true to size, I am wearing a size small for reference!   This cute little number is perfect for a Christmas party or New Years!  Since there is a lot going on with the dress, I went with understated silver sandal which is on sale for $59.99 and a metallic clutch which is also on sale!  I am a huge fan of metallic accessories because they literally go with everything!

I like affordable special occasion wear because I will probably just wear it once!! My life just isn’t very dressy right now.  I am rounding up my favorite sparkly pieces under $100!  I always recommend reading the reviews when shopping online!  This helps so much with sizing and quality.

I love neutral wardrobe staples that can be styled multiple ways!  These are the pieces that help you build a wardrobe to create mix and match options.  I want to share the neutral pieces that will be my staples this Fall!

A Plaid Blazer– plaid is timeless, yet still on trend this Fall!  Adding a plaid blazer instantly dresses up your denim. You can throw it over a dress for dinner and it’s also perfect for the office.  This blazer is a steal at only $34.99

Leopard print is bigger than ever for fall/winter this year!  I have been a fan of it for more than 20 years.   When I was 16 years old, I bought a pair of leopard print pants (that were totally spice girl) and I have been wearing it ever since. I can’t think of any other trend that has had that longevity in my wardrobe.   You can wear it in small doses or make a statement.  And it looks great on blondes, brunettes, and even redheads like myself!  Here are some of my current favorite leopard print pieces

A fuzzy leopard print coat–  I adore my leopard coat!  It instantly makes your outfit look chic!  ( this one is a GREAT price for a high quality coat)

Leopard print silky blouse- I love layering my silky top under jackets! It’s also super chic tucked into a slightly higher waisted denim.  (on sale very affordable)

Leopard booties – I love giving my solid. basic outfits a pop of print with leopard booties.

leopard scarf-  I love throwing my leopard scarf over a white tee or black turtleneck.  It instantly pulls your look together! This one is $19!!!

Leopard print cardigan– this one is only $32!! I wear it over a dress, with denim, and pair it with a basic white tee! There are so many options with this!

I had the amazing opportunity to meet up with 3 blogger babes and experience NYFW!!  It was truly the experience of a lifetime and I learned so much that I want to share with you.  I also want to do a round up of my favorite outfits from the weekend.  I had so much fun putting these looks together!  My “real life” consists of active wear most of the time, so it was a nice change to get “glammed” up and express myself with these looks.  You see absolutely EVERYTHING at NYFW,  so whatever you want to wear is fair game.  As a fashion/lifestyle blogger,  I want to be MYSELF and always be true to my personal style.  In a VERY competitive, overcrowded arena of bloggers, it’s easy to get lost in the mix and lose who you are, trying to compete.   As with anything in life, be sincere, be REAL, be YOU!  That is what people want to see!

I love experimenting with different textures so when I found an ostrich feather skirt, I was like YES, PLEASE!! I had so much fun wearing this outfit!  I paired it with a simple white scalloped halter tank  and a thick black belt.  ( mine is old, here is similar) I am also a huge fan of using accessories for pops of color, so I added these red patent pumps.  My beaded geometric clutch is old, but I love this ONE

I LOVE jeans!! So, I wanted to do a fun denim look!  I paired a fun black tie jacket from Alice and Olivia with my favorite high waisted jeans and black over the knee boots.   I am loving the newsboy hat trend and this one is under $50!

NYFW isn’t complete without some sparkle!  The last night in NYC I wore this fabulous gold sequin dress.  This is a great piece to have in your closet for holiday parties!  Metallics are timeless and always classy!  And this right above the knee length works for cocktail  events or formals.  This dress is surprisingly so comfortable too!  I paired it with a nude patent heel to elongate the leg line!!

And finally, here are a few things I learned from this amazing experience

1.  Plan way ahead and start early!!  To make the most of this trip, I should have started the preparations much sooner.  Next time, I will start sending pitches and reaching out to brands earlier and will send a lot more of them!  As with any industry, PR and meeting the right people is everything!
2. Be genuine and sincere.  As I said earlier, this is a very overcrowded, competitive biz, and at times very artificial.  We can be whoever we want to be behind a camera lens,  so I want to be real and someone people can relate to.
3. It’s all about the relationships.  This is true in any case, but sharing this with genuine, beautiful friends made this trip so amazing!
4. Being successful takes a LOT of work!! I can’t believe all that is involved in this biz.  Sometimes, I’m like Forget it, that’s too much work!!
5.  Don’t play the comparison game! We all have a story and something to share!  It’s so easy to compare another bloggers situation to my own, but we are each on our own journey.  Embrace the opportunities I am given and be thankful everyday that I get to do something I enjoy- all the while staying home with my precious kiddos!
